The Diocese of Laredo joyfully announces the Episcopal Ordination and Installation of Bishop-designate John J. Gomez, who was appointed by the Holy Father, Pope Leo XIV, as the second Bishop of Laredo on May 1, 2026.
Currently serving as a priest of the Diocese of Tyler, Father Gomez will be ordained to the episcopacy and installed as the second Bishop of Laredo during a special liturgical celebration on June 30, 2026.
We invite the faithful and all people of goodwill to join us in prayer and celebration as we welcome our new bishop.
