In a letter to Archbishop Gustavo García-Siller of the Archdiocese of San Antonio, Bishop James A. Tamayo offered prayers on behalf of the Diocese of Laredo. "The clergy, Religious and faithful of the Diocese of Laredo are united in prayer with you and the people of the Archdiocese in asking our dear Lord to bring comfort and strength to the families impacted by the tragedy in Uvalde, Texas. May these beautiful souls be received into the glory and peace of heaven. May the families be comforted by the countless prayers offered for their consolation."

Additionally, Bishop Tamayo expressed a willingness to help "Count on our continued prayers, and if we in the Diocese of Laredo can do anything to assist, please call upon us."
